Kongsten Fortress in Fredrikstad old city

Exploring misty Kongsten Fortress, a dream fulfilled with my trusty drone by my side.

Capturing the enchanting Kongsten Fortress in Fredrikstad, Norway on a misty day was a dream I’d been nurturing on my bucket list for quite some time. It wasn’t until February 25, 2021, when the weather was shrouded in gloom, creating the perfect atmosphere for drone photography, that I finally seized the opportunity to immortalize this historical gem. My trusty companion at the time was the Dji Mavic Air Mini, but since then, I have has upgraded to the Dji Air 2s.

The pandemic, with its temporary closure of our museums, inadvertently provided us with the time and motivation to enhance our online presence and content offerings. One of the fruits of this endeavor is KulturPunkt, a cultural heritage web portal expertly developed by KulturIT. This platform now boasts a rich array of text, multimedia, and immersive 360-degree virtual reality experiences. And, as the icing on the cake, the mesmerizing drone footage of Kongsten Fortress will soon find its place on the KulturPunkt platform.

He has spent the years since working at the intersection of technology, art, and cultural heritage — building interactive museum installations, automating things that probably shouldn't be automated, and occasionally connecting hamsters to the internet. He holds an MFA from UCL Slade School of Fine Art and a BA from Kingston University, and currently works as a digital advisor at Østfoldmuseene in Norway. His blog covers music curation, creative technology, and the specific frustration of being too early to everything.
